Question 10

February 22, 2021 By Allen Winkler 1 Comment

I just heard a guy compare the Bible to the constitution because it’s a document written a long time ago for a society that it isn’t relative for anymore with people cherry picking things out of. And my immediate thought is yes that is so accurate: love to hear counter thoughts

That would be one way to look at it. I believe you are mostly referring to the Pharisees. As I have explained, during the time of the Pharisees, the church and the government were one in the same. Many many countries existed this way through the history of the world. At this junction in time, the Pharisees were in charge and were also religious zealots. They prided themselves in how “holy” they were. The aforementioned Pride was their downfall.

However, I would disagree that the Bible and the Constitution are both outdated documents. The Constitution has constant amendments to it to make sure it meets the needs of the current society. So with that, I would say his comment was a little off. The Bible is written by God through men. It is more alive and more current to my own life than ever before. It is the Lord Almighty speaking to me through His letters to me.
